35 Statewide Candidates for 2021
Virginia's talented, diverse field will set the stage for the 2024 presidential cycle as both parties determine their direction for the next generation.
We are forty-six days from the Georgia Senate runoffs and just 200 days from the Virginia primaries for the statewide offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General.
To date, Virginia has thirty-five candidates who have either officially declared themselves to be statewide candidates, are in the process of becoming a candidate, or have openly discussed running for one of the Big Three.
Regardless of their exact station in the campaign, they should be considered candidates. You can always tell by their grin when they talk about it. They really can’t, and frankly shouldn’t be able to, contain their enthusiasm at the prospect of becoming the next <insert office> in November of next year.
It is what it is and it should be exciting. If Eeyore was a candidate, he might even crack that candidate grin. Actually, let’s capitalize that one - Candidate Grin. Feel free to trademark it if you want, they don’t cost that much.
Undoubtedly, the list will be winnowed down over time due to lack of some critical elements - money, time, organization, or support; however, right now in the Commonwealth it is GAME ON.
Not only that, but the entire House of Delegates is up next year as well. All 100 districts…but wait, there’s more! As a possible special one time bonus offer, due to the timing of redistricting, Virginia might have the entire House of Delegates on the ballot in 2021, 2022, and 2023!
WOW! Three races for the price of two?
No. Three for the price of three.
oh.

Here is an offer to anyone preparing Thanksgiving dinner - this is the recipe for Joel Robuchon’s famous mashed potatoes. Our kids are CRAZY about them. I served them underneath a perfectly smoked brisket recently during a hunting trip to south Louisiana. Many RAVE reviews and recipe requests followed so I send the link above to you in hopes that your Thanksgiving table is blessed and bountiful with the love of family and friends.
Robuchon’s four ingredient recipe of potatoes, milk, butter, and salt is now world famous. Why? Because he shared it. He loved out. Excellent reminder on how to give thanks, right?
I love Thanksgiving. Such a low bar of expectation - gather, eat, give thanks, love out, and then cold turkey sandwiches over a long four day weekend of football games.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Please be safe this holiday season, the team needs you in the game.
