The New York Times Trump Takes Iowa, and a Big First Step Toward a Rematch With Biden
In a state that had rejected him in the caucuses eight years ago, Mr. Trump finished ahead of two of his main rivals, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, both of whom were locked in a race for second place.
Even his four felony indictments, and his status as the only former American president to ever face criminal charges, have united many Republicans behind his claims of 'election interference' and victimhood at the hands of Democrats and the 'deep state.' Now, the Republican calendar will turn to New Hampshire, where polling shows Mr. Trump is expected to face a strong challenge from Ms. Haley in a state where independent voters can also cast ballots.
Heading into the caucuses, Mr. DeSantis had pledged to run a 'long' and 'scrappy' campaign regardless of the result and symbolically decided to fly directly to South Carolina after Iowa instead of to New Hampshire, a state where he has been polling in the single digits.
Rick Jacoby, the precinct chair, spoke in favor of Donald Trump, saying 'he's done a great job in the past.' Only one other candidate was given a speech of support – Ron DeSantis.

CNN Takeaways from the Iowa Republican caucuses
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged out former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for a distant second-place finish — though the nominating contest now shifts to New Hampshire, where polls show Haley in a much stronger position in next week's primary.
Haley, meanwhile, is within single digits of Trump in New Hampshire, polls show.
However, he's entering what could be a difficult stretch, with polls showing him far behind Trump and Haley in New Hampshire. Trump is expected to dominate the Nevada GOP caucuses. Donors could also dry up.
The Washington Times Iowa intrigue: Republicans leery of subterfuge with same-day registration at caucuses
Polls show Ms. Haley running a distant second behind Mr. Trump thanks to the support of a mix of moderate Republicans, independents and Democrats.
The poll also found half of Ms. Haley's supporters are independents and crossover Democrats and that 43% of Ms. Haley's supporters said they would vote for President Joe Biden over Mr. Trump.
Mr. DeSantis, however, planned to stop first in South Carolina, signaling he believes that the state, which is No. 4 after Nevada on the GOP calendar, is more fertile political ground for his message.
The Washington Times Trump easily wins Iowa caucuses
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —Former President Donald Trump easily trounced his Republican competitors in the Iowa caucuses Monday after dominating the polls in the state for months.
Mr. DeSantis was hoping to eke out a win for a distant second place over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who had a late surge in Iowa polls and millions of dollars in campaign television advertising.
Mr. LaCivita said she is not playing in Nevada and 'then you know, we go to South Carolina where they know her the best and they like her the least.'

The 74 Virginia Dems Call for Immediate Ban on Legacy Admissions
'Colleges should consider individuals' life experiences when reviewing their applications, including their socioeconomic status or how poverty has impacted their educational journey,' Attorney General Jason Miyares wrote in the Richmond Times-Dispatch last August. 'Higher education must follow the Supreme Court's lead and end the superficial legacy admissions system so the door to higher education is truly open to everyone.'
