Trying to Make Sense of It All?
Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Rocky IV, Godfather I and II, Obi Won, George Costanza, Latka and Vic Ferrari, and Thelma & Louise.
At dinner last night here in Denver at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) annual summer meeting, a hopefully loyal reader offered his appreciation of my use of pop culture references.
As many of you have come to realize about this newsletter, I use popular cultural references to get a point across.
Commonality connects.
The use of visuals, graphics, music, and videos is my attempt to draw the reader deeper into constructive political engagement; however, humor - an effective regulator of bad political behavior - is my closer.
Humor is politically lethal.
Comedy cuts to the quick of our intensely negative and destructive partisan dialogue.
The old line, “it’s funny because it’s true” elevates truth above all.
From there, I believe, the will of the people can be more accurately expressed by their (your) voting behavior. Vox Populi and all that…
In the end, that better serves us, our Republic, and our world.
At least that’s my hope and I truly appreciate you for being along for the ride.

The past month in American politics has been the most remarkable I have witnessed in my 32 years of active participation.
Four weeks ago we watched the public debate performance of the current president. that was so bad he was forced off his party’s ticket.
We STILL have not been told WHY he is no longer running.
Say why it’s so, Joe. Say it so.
Then we saw an assassination attempt of a former president televised live.
Just days later, he capped his historic comeback by accepting the nomination of his passionately united party.
Trump 3.0 or Trump the Trilogy?
Okay, one shot. But still…you get the point, right?
Then again when you add in all the legal challenges…that’s five.
Exhausting. Exhilarating. Exasperating.
Yup. All of them.
And we still have 102 days left until Election Night here in America!
Two primary points for this week.
Alphabetical order.
Democrats, you’re up first.
The Main Stream Media (D - Acela Corridor) gets two Gaslighting American Voter Awards FIRST about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and THEN about Vice President Kamala Harris (D - Border Czar) getting Democratic nomination without a single vote being cast. #DemocracyIsNotOnTheBallotAfterAll #CoronationsAreForMonarchs
Best visuals? Obi Won Kenobi and George Costanza
Joe Biden not telling America and the world WHY he is “passing the torch” is the Greatest Lie Never Told.
And now the Republicans.
Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance sure has come a LONG way from being an anti-Trumper (TM) just eight years ago.
Somewhat reminds me of the 70s TV show - Taxi. A “sweet-natured and lovable-but-goofy mechanic Latka Gravas” who “alters (his) lifestyle to fit the fast lane” and quickly becomes smooth talking ladies’ man Vic Ferrari.
Republicans are in for a DOOZY of a post 2024 era as conservative Latkas face off against their instinctual inner populist Vic Ferrari.
Don’t worry…about a thing….
